(il) Soigneur x Cobble Wobble

We’re really pleased to show off some of the prizes our sponsor (il) soigneur will be giving away to the top three at the King of the Cobbles this Sunday – some completely custom and oh so tasty musettes. Nice.

The original musette, used throughout the ages to feed cyclists and carry club rider gear, has been given an overdue make over by (iL) Soigneur, the Bristol based bag maker.

To be worn on and off the bike, each bag is 36cm wide and 27cm deep and is capable of holding all your day or night essentials, including several glossy mags, books, wallets, water bottle and phone

By using modern fabrics, reinforcement in all the right places and press stud fastening (il) soigneur ensures that the bags not only look good but are also hardwearing and up to the job. A simple but hardwearing webbing strap is used (25mm – 50mm) to keep the bag where its supposed to be and each bag is supplied with a reflective tag to keep you safe, should you use it at night.

There will be two types of bags available on the day; the ‘Classic’, in blue with a red lining, grey strap and a beautifully screen printed “World Famous” logo (thanks to White Duck Screen Print) and the ‘Banner’ bag which is made from last years massive CW banner, that has been recycled to provide these completely unique bags, each of which is different from the next .

All of these bags will be available on the day from the stall at the top of the hill, along with T shirts, jerseys, posters, badges and stickers…

Redbull Streetlights

Was really cool to see so many people in Bristol last night there watching (even in the rain) and cheering on their street trials heroes. Danny MacAskill was injured but soldiered on and still managed to wow the crowds with his effortless style. The best part of the event was the fact that anyone could get involved and give it a go whilst being tutored by legends such as Danny and Martyn Ashton, amazing! Here’s the press release:

YouTube sensation Danny MacAskill and Street Trials specialist, Martyn Ashton brought the long awaited Red Bull Street Light Sessions to Bristol on Saturday 17th September.
On his return to the UK, after a number of overseas projects, Danny said: “It is really exciting for me to be back riding in the UK. After a year of traveling, the Red Bull Streetlight Sessions are a great way for me to catch up with the Trials scene over here. The riding setup, using the awesome features in Castle Park in Bristol, is a great challenge for beginners, while a stunning platform gives the experts a chance to show their skills.”

The event ran into the evening, gradually becoming illuminated under city lights and finishing at 10pm. Over 800 spectators watched some of the world’s best trials riders in action, with a number of demo sessions on the unique course that wowed the Bristol crowd and inspired local riders. Ewan Beaden from Portsmouth set the standard and won £500 for the best trick.

In between the demo sessions Red Bull and Inspired Bicycles ran three, hour long ‘Street Light Taster Sessions’. Around 70 ‘street trials’ first timers signed up to have a go at the sport in a safe, progressive environment These selected riders were given the opportunity to ride the course alongside Danny and partake in the ‘Taster Session’ and all were able to get some top tips, advice and encouragement from trials legend Martyn Ashton.

The next stop is Manchester on the 8th October. For those trials enthusiasts who want a chance to take part in this unique biking experience sign up at www.redbull.co.uk/streetlight

Good times…

The final arrangements are being made for next week and because of the huge pressure for places this year we’ve had to tweak the timings of the event a little… full details will be released very very soon, so in the mean time here are the bare essentials:

15:00 (first rider up the hill, under 14′s)
~20:00 (King of the Cobbles first of 20 riders up the hill)
~20:30 (King of the Cobbles podium, then the after-party at the Archangel )
